The biggest challenge was to migrate about 30000 posts on each of the two websites during the migration. Each post in the old sites had lots of custom fields and with varying structures. We mapped the metadata from each post type and placed them accordingly to the new website themes structure.
We had to write extensive amount of custom code to make sure the new website functioned more efficiently, while keeping the metadata and structures intact.
We had meetings with the brave people at Irrawaddy to understand their mission and how the website plays a significant role in that. After that we spend time studying the website and the structure if everything in it. We created a strategy and decided that the new website needed to have a lot of custom development with minimal use of page builders in order to make the website load incredibly fast.
We developed a responsive and intuitive website, keeping the simplicity of a news site and making sure it loads in an instant. To migrate them we had to map the metadata from each post type and place them accordingly to the new website themes structure. Each site had over 30.000 posts. The resulting website was a huge success and a significant upgrade from the old one. It was much easier for the reporters to manage and post their articles.
Post-launch, Baan Thai chose to engage with our maintenance and retainer services. We continue to work closely with them, ensuring the website remains up-to-date and continually optimized for user experience and performance.
